And when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them….When it was evening, His disciples came to Him, saying, “This is a deserted place, and the hour is already late. Send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages and buy themselves food.” BUT Jesus said to them, “They do not need to go away. YOU give them something to eat.” (Matthew 14:15-16)

Compassion produces ACTION. The compassion of Jesus enabled Him to reach out and heal the sick. He met the needs where He was and in that moment of time. “It was evening….and the hour was late.” It is the evening spiritually for this world, and the hour is late! Where we are living is a desert place – we are surrounded by extreme poverty, suffering, crime, corruption, abuse in every form, and above all, churches that are steeped in religiosity, domination and bondage. The Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ has come to set us free! It has greatly saddened our hearts to see the results of ignorance and erroneous teaching. Satan has shackled the majority of believers with false doctrine. The deceit of Satan though, not only holds ‘Christians’ in bondage, but holds captive the unbelievers as it hinders them from seeing the glorious Light of the Lord Jesus Christ, that they should come to the Truth and experience deliverance in every area of their lives.

As a family and as a team, we minister to the poor and needy in Guatemala. 75% of the Guatemalan people live below the bread line. The mission Guatemala Family Sponsorship Programme has been initiated to help the desperately poor families that we work with.

The Facts Carlos Roberto is the youngest of 6 children. They live in one room with their mother. She has been physically and mentally abused. She is very thin and full of fear. She tells us that if she had not met us, she would have given up completely. We are trying to help her financially, but there is only so much that we can do when we are surrounded by so many needs. With your help on the Family Sponsorship Programme, we can do so much more to help other parents in similar situations. She has now expressed a desire for a Bible, and we know that the Lord has touched her heart and given her hope.

Another mother, cooks over a candle flame when she runs out of wood or carbon for her open fire. Her husband is a good man, but his job is cleaning shoes and for this he is very poorly paid. The family live in one rented room which is rat and mice infested. They have 2 sons aged 15 and 8 years old, and a daughter who is 2 years old. They all sleep in one bed, and cannot use the one electric light because it is too dangerous.

We have a Children’s Outreach Work with 70 children in San Lucas where we live, called Zona Infantil. Many of the children live with their families in one-room accommodation. We work with very poor families who live in appalling conditions: parents on such a low income that they cannot provide for their families, mothers who have no financial help from their husbands because they are with other women is a very common plight here, mothers with small children are unable to work because they have to look after them, little girls are forced to work and therefore receive no education because the priority is given to the boys. The families we work with cannot afford basic education, and they have to try and raise the money for the rent of the hovels they live in that are rat infested.

For just ₤15-00 per month, you can sponsor a child on our Family Programme. This will help the parents to pay for food and fees for basic education for that child, plus books, pencils and medicines etc. Not only do we minister the financial support from our sponsors, but we enrol the parents on a practical parenting programme to support and help them, and to also teach them Biblical principles and truth.

Please help us to help them. Your sponsorship of just ₤15-00 per month will go such a long way to help these families provide for their children. As you give in this way, you will bring such joy and gratitude to them, and your giving will be blessed by the Lord Himself.

He who has pity on the poor lends to the Lord, and He will pay back what he has given. (Proverbs 19:17)

We so depend on your faithful prayers and love support. As you sow into the poor and needy people here, we are enabled to reap what you have sown. “He who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. One sows and another reaps….. you have entered into their labours.” (John 4:36-38)

Meeting needs naturally and spiritually helps restore dignity to the parents in providing properly for their children.
