Dear All
Greetings from Guatemala in the wonderful Name of our glorious risen Lord Jesus! May He abundantly bless you all in your places of worship and through this coming week. Our Lord Jesus reigns above all principalities and powers, and might and dominion, praise His Name! By His grace, we are seeing the Holy Spirit move in a deeper way in the hearts and lives of our Church Family at El Refugio Centro Cristiano. We are earnestly praying for revival, for only a move of God through the Holy Spirit can change Santiago. In Psalm 149:6-9. we read -Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand,....to bind their kings with chains...to execute on them the written judgement. Even as we have been praying more in earnest, we have been seeing more gang activity and violence. There are greater numbers right now of gang members on the streets at night. A cantina(drinking house) opened a few months ago only a few doors away from El Refugio, so we have been actively praying for it to close! We have moved the meetings during the week to earlier times so that the folk can walk home while there is still daylight.
It gets dark about 7:00pm at the moment. There are only 5 policemen between Santaigo and the town next to us
called Santa María Cauque. Please stand with us in prayer to see a retreat of demonic activity.
The photos we have sent are various:-
Joel's 1st birthday with his mum, Margarita
Some of the women at a recent ladies meeting
Linda who was named after 'yours truly' is now nearly 3 years old and pictured with her mum, Vicki
Photos of a Church meeting and a dedication of baby Anderson with his parents, Vilma and Alfredo, and of some of the Sunday School
Little children playing with some of the toys
Russ' class
Russ showing the violin to Pre-School 2 children
Children of the Mariposa group (the Butterflies) doing an activity with glue
Jaquelin, the little girl who had the cleft palate and hair-lip operations is now 3 years old and has just started
Pre-School
Photos of 2nd and 3rd grade doing games in the 'dust bowl' field next to La Casa de Los Angelitos
Our new aquisition to La Casa de Los Angelitos- a street puppy called Pepa Chula!
We are so happy to see Guatemala win its first medal - silver in the Walking marathon by 21 year old Erick Barrondo, the only indigenous person in the Guatemalan Olympic team of 19 people. The indigenous people make up over 60% of the population, and yet, the divide between the extremely poor indigenous and the whiter Hispanic people who are richer and have more prestige, is greater than in any other Latin American country.
Thank you for your prayers and support. May the Lord bless you all abundantly. With much love, hugs and our prayers from Linda, Russ and Luke.
