The Church," El Refugio Centro Cristiano "
The Church is the most important part of the Mission in Santiago. What more can we do for these dear folk other than to introduce them to a loving Saviour Who is always there for them. Our aim is that folk come and feel the presence of our dear Lord and develop a real faith in Him. We see lives change as they witness for themselves His goodness. Life is very hard for the poor people here in Guatemala. They are born into a world of corruption and deceit where no one can be trusted. Consequently the indigenous are naturally shy and very sceptical as a people. How wonderful it is then that we can provide an ‘oasis in the desert’ where folk are loved, accepted for who they are, and supported in every way.
We are blessed to have a good cross section of ages at El Refugio Centro Cristiano. From the 80 strong congregation, about thirty are children. We encourage the people to participate in the services for it is their church. Towards the end of 2009 we started a choir with the ladies and young people of the church. This choir has grown and the rehearsal nights are for us the highlight of the week. Such is the joy and presence of the Lord that we experience.
