Our Mission
The work and vision of Mission Guatemala is primarily to reach the indigenous Indians, and especially the Kaqchikel people: to bring them to salvation through the power of the cross of Jesus Christ and through Him alone, and to raise their self-esteem by teaching the Word of God and to bring them to an understanding of who they are in Christ, to minister to the many needs among these extremely poor people with food, medical help, education, love and support and to minister to their emotional and spiritual needs.
Mission Guatemala’s objectives are:
a) To bring the knowledge of salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ to the indigenous people
b) To see lives change by teaching the principles of the Word of God
c) Through prayer and the power of the Holy Spirit to see lives set free from the effects of witchcraft and the occult which have been practiced here for generations
d) To give a free Christian education to extremely poor children;enabling them to have a future
Jesus said,"The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed…" Luke 4:18

The LORD will be a Refuge for His people (Joel 3:16)
To you who fear My name, the Sun of Righteousness will arise with healing in His wings (Malachi 4:2)
Our logo depicts the volcanoes of Guatemala, and the Lord as a Refuge for his people. Behind the volcanoes, the Sun reveals the Lord Jesus Christ arising with healing in His wings. The Hebrew word for ‘healing’ comes from the verb rapha - “to heal, cure, repair.” Salvation is God’s rescue of the entire person – the healing of a soul that has sinned and the healing of a broken heart. Jesus, “the Messiah is compared to a rising sun, which has visible, radiant beams of sunlight streaming outward in all directions. From each of these beams of glorious light, healing flows.” (New Spirit Life Bible – Word Wealth). The Lord is a Refuge and Healer of the entire person. In this land of violence, oppression and extreme poverty, the Lord is touching lives and softening hearts. El Refugio Centro Cristiano is well-known now in Santiago, and hurting folk are coming all the time.
